Affen

I was invited to the German city of Braunschweig to light up the opening of a beautiful exhibition on the Great Apes, an event organized by the Naturhistorisches Museum and Landesmuseum of Braunschweig together with the Neanderthal Museum. I contributed with a quick, dream-like take on the “Astrochimp” era, a series of controversial experimental missions held by NASA in the early 60’s, during which young chimpanzee, “Ham the Chimp” being the most famous one, were used for experimental orbital flights. Most of these apes died during training or test missions or had an unusually short life in the animal shelters and sanctuaries they were sent to once their “cycle” was completed.

The performance lasted 15 minutes, on the music composed for the occasion by Fabrizio Nocci.
